A Dog Named Rue

Posted by Administrator on Jan 19, 2012

Lyrics:
You have simply got to be
The most annoying dog times 3
Fit of rage, while you open wide
Barking at the world out side

I have got to keep in mind
Your pallet’s truly quite refined
Fruit of the Loom need not apply
You only chew the lacy kind

I can’t breath while I’m in my bed
Your entire body is on my head
I can’t leave without looking back
To see your snout pressed against the glass

Oh what to do with a dog named Rue
I will admit that the name does fit, regret not calling you Sue
Oh Rue

Remember when your favorite treat
Was tinsel off the tree to eat
Dangling in the winter air
I had to pull the string out from you know where

Escaping from the house you race
To find a strangers car to chase
I hope you live a full life, though,
I’m certain this is how you’ll go

Every week I’m at the local store
Replacing something you nabbed and tore
But when I’m freezing on the couch
You warm me up and lick my mouth

Oh what to do with a dog named Rue
I will admit that the name does fit, regret not calling you Sue
Oh Rue

This ebook specifically aligns with the Grade 6 Saskatchewan Science Curriculum. The book contains a songwriting guide and 8 song writing activities and original songs as well as a video.

Please download the book and  use them with your students. The topics will obviously span a range of grade levels as well as the songwriting guide would be useful for many ages. Use all, parts or just listen and enjoy.  It would be wonderful if you would provide some feedback on how you used it or see potential for this resource.

Come see me at the Regina Folk Festival

Posted by meredith on Jul 25, 2009

I’ll be performing at the Regina Folk Festival August 7-9. My main performance will be on Saturday 1PM. I’d love to see you all. Here’s a brief write up from the folk festival site.

Meredith Jordan (21) is one of Canada’s promising new artists. Hailing from the prairies, she grew up surrounded by the sounds of Joni Mitchell and James Taylor, but it was her jazz tendencies that led her to Humber College, where she studied Music. It was during her 4 years there she began to develop her own unique brand as the cheeky songstress. Her clever use of humor is refreshingly fun, and is becoming even more brazen in her latest writings.

Meredith Jordan just finished recording her first EP titled “Pack Rat” (to be released 08.09). With a love for both jazz and folk, Jordan blends the two together effortlessly. Playing her “Baby Taylor” along with sideman Kurt Buchanan as second guitarist, her sparkling melodies are complimented by her coy and easy vocal style. Meredith Jordan is a fabulous addition to Canada’s world-class music scene.
